Statutory Supervisor Course (BSBWHS411 & BSBWHS414) overview

A two-day training course designed for participants in supervisory roles within mining, quarrying, processing plants and workshops. This course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations WA. Successful completion enables participants to be appointed as Statutory Supervisors on a mine site after passing the required legislation examination.

Upon completing the Statutory Supervisor Course, participants will be able to:

Implement and Monitor WHS Policies, Procedures, and Programs (BSBWHS411):

  • Communicate relevant WHS legislative provisions to the work team.
  • Provide accessible information about the organisation’s WHS policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Facilitate work team participation in managing WHS risks through effective consultation mechanisms.
  • Identify and report hazards in the work area following organisational and legislative requirements.
  • Implement procedures to control risks using the hierarchy of control measures.
  • Maintain WHS incident records and use aggregate data to meet organisational recordkeeping requirements.

Contribute to WHS Risk Management (BSBWHS414):

  • Access and interpret internal and external sources of WHS information and data.
  • Identify and comply with organisational policies, procedures, and WHS legislative requirements for hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control.
  • Select and use appropriate hazard identification tools and techniques.
  • Assess risks associated with identified hazards and document the outcomes.
  • Contribute to developing, implementing, and evaluating risk controls according to the hierarchy of control measures and WHS laws.
  • Communicate risk assessment outcomes and risk control information to relevant stakeholders.

    This course includes the following accredited units of competencies:

      • BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
      • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
    • Have 2 valid forms of identification on the day of training one being a current photo ID.
    • Sound verbal and written comprehension of the English language is mandatory
    • Basic computer skills to access online portal and complete pre requisite information

    Classroom-based theory component followed by theoretical assessment
