This course will enable participants to attain the knowledge and skills to safely operate an excavator with a rated capacity (safe working load) greater than 3 tonnes, configured and used as a crane.
Western Australia’s new Work Health & Safety (General) Regulations 2022 has introduced a new, WA-specific requirement for operators of earthmoving equipment being used as a crane (i.e. to lift and place suspended loads such as pipes) to hold a high-risk work licence (dogging or C2 Crane) as well as undertake this prescribed training course.
This course is only suitable for individuals who are already competent excavator operators undertaking earthmoving operations, who wish to achieve competency in safe lifting with excavators.
The new regulation, 15A, from Schedule 3 of the Regulations commences 10th of August 2025. From that date all excavator operators using an excavator to lift loads will be required to demonstrate they have completed this course and also hold either a high risk dogging or crane ticket.
This course is only suitable for individuals who are already competent excavator operators undertaking earthmoving operations, who wish to achieve competency in safe lifting with excavators.
If you are required to lift loads with an excavator during the course of your employment then from the 10th August 2025 you will be required to demonstrate the successful completion of this course by WorkSafe.
